COME BACK

Mr. Hearst helplessly revisits a dream where a 4-yr-old Patty is taken away by an apocalyptic storm

Again

I dreamed of you last night

This time

You were only four

And safely by my side

When the window glass exploded

And unleashed a deaf’ning roar

Our home

Was blown

Away

Into a dark defiant howling sky

Your small hand still held tight in mine

As the bare trees screamed

Like ten thousand sirens

You cried “Oh daddy make it stop”

As the wind tugged you off the lawn

“Stay with me please” I begged

As you slipped right out my arms

You hovered there beyond my reach

Then pitched higher in the clack

            (Higher)

            (Higher)

Come back

            (Higher)

            (Higher)

Come back

            (Higher)

            (Higher)

Come back

(Come back and wake me up!)
